Lucie Clift Price Papers, 1838-1983

Papers of genealogist Price (1900-1983) consist of two main groups: research materials related to Texas outlaw, William Preston Longley. (1851-1878), and those related to Price's genealogical research of the Price, Dunn, and Clift families. Longley materials include correspondence, printed materials, muster rolls, research notes, biographical materials about his father McCampbell Longley (1816-1907), and genealogical materials on Longley's descendants in the Longley-Shaw family. Additional materials relate to Alexander Calvit, John Salmon Ford, Mary Ann Peebles, Albert Parsons, Erastus Smith, and Robert Potter. William Preston Longley, the outlaw known as "Wild Bill" Longley, was born in Texas on October 6, 1851. He allegedly murdered 32 individuals and committed other crimes in five Texas counties as well as in Cheyenne, Wyoming Territory.
